Dalton Barn

miscellanea  i  barn

This hemlock Barn replaced an old worn out auto-garage that had been reincarnated as a farm shed. Much work went into devising a way to save the auto-garage (homemade 2×4 trusses used pieces of license plates for the gussets! – Sills and rafter plates were of a dense broadleaf heart pine that we re-used for stair treads) When it was determined that the garage wasn’t worth saving, we threw our efforts into building a wonderful hemlock timber-framed replacement.

Capped by a 9 kW solar array and a lovely onion weather vane, this barn was a worthy and fitting replacement for its predecessor.
