Garland Mill is an integrated Design + Build company that specializes in the design and construction of high performing buildings. We work primarily in New Hampshire’s North Country and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Our work encompasses renovation, new construction and the occasional light commercial project. Most of our buildings are either Net Zero or Passive House inspired. experienced Carpenter

Garland Mill is looking to hire an experienced Carpenter for full time employment starting late fall 2026.

Pay: $25 – $36 per hour

Our ideal candidate is knowledgeable about high performance building or wants to learn new ways of building that go beyond satisfying the basic building code. This is a growth position that will teach high efficiency construction methods while being part of a great team. Candidates should be able to work both collaboratively and individually, able to take on job site responsibilities, and be curious about innovative techniques for building homes that use less energy than they produce.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent rough and finish carpentry skills
  • Understanding of building science, or a desire to learn the current techniques
  • Effective communication with co-workers, tradespeople, and clients
  • Enjoys problem solving and have the ability to plan ahead
  • Desire to be part of an inclusive, mutually respectful team that designs and builds unique homes

Training + Education

Garland Mill offers a registered apprenticeship program in partnership with Apprenticeship NH and the US Department of Labor.

  • Term of Apprenticeship: 6,000 hours (3 years) paid on-the-job training
  • Related Instruction: NHTI – Concord’s Community College; National Center for Construction Education and Research, OSHA 10

Garland Mill Trades and Building Sciences Scholarship is an annual scholarship open to White Mountains Regional High School (WMRHS) seniors who are interested in pursuing careers in the trades or building sciences, including but not limited to: architecture, engineering, carpentry, drafting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and solar.
