Jane, a much beloved massage therapist from Boston, reached out to us to help her renovate a home on Squam Lake. She was determined to make the home a case study for how to remove our building stock from fossil fuels and usher in the next generation of design and construction techniques, while simultaneously remaking the home into a haven for her large extended family. We were one board from Hello.

This required a ground source heat pump (GSHP) and very careful insulation and air sealing to dramatically reduce heating loads. Coupled with triple paned windows and 8 kW of solar, we achieved Net Zero and LEED Platinum Certification and hosted hundreds of interested people over the years for NESEA Solar Tours and local area high schools and colleges to spread the good news about what was possible in the fight against climate change.

Jane did site visits each Thursday afternoon and was famous for bringing lavish lunches (and here massage table) … she quickly became a jobsite favorite and a NESEA stalwart. Jane and her family enjoyed this home for many years up until her passing in 2023 when the was moved on to another lucky family to enjoy on the lake.
