Passive House
residential i passive house i net zero
Net Zero retirement home, designed to the Passive House standard. The brief was that this would be a low maintenance retirement home for Tom and Nancy to grow old in. Particular attention was paid to low maintenance design and local materials as well as stepless entry and shower.
This was the first project where we started to use eastern white cedar cladding for durability and low maintenance. There is very little yard to mow. A small raised bed kitchen garden feeds them in the summer and a cheery Danish wood stove keeps them warm while they watch birds in the winter. Runner up in the 2011 NESEA Net Zero Home competition!
